OICB Student Newsletter 2010

Witney Snow

One of the coldest winters on record and OICB was forced to close its doors for 2 days as students were unable to battle their way through the snow!

The students managed to “escape college again” during March to complete the obligatory 2 weeks work experience which many of you will remember!

Some of the more exciting destinations included in Oklahoma, USA, Malta, St Vincent and South Africa. Others enjoyed the experience of working in some of the UK’s leading Spas including Nirvana Spa, Grayshott Spa, Lucknam Park, Heythrop Spa and Ragdale Hall Health Hydro. With many local prestigious Salons supporting our work experience scheme students worked at the Randolph Hotel, Esporta, Cannells, Chesterton Golf Club, Enhance, Two’s Company, Head to Toe, Cedar Therapy and Mulberrys. Premier Salons in Wales and Sussex were happy to offer placements to students who came from the area.

David Cameron

The Right Honourable David Cameron P.M. visits the Oxford International College of Beauty.

The Oxford International College of Beauty was privileged to receive the Right Honourable David Cameron for a visit to the new re-located college and Skincare Clinic. The Prime Minister took time to talk to the students about their choice of courses and career opportunities and showed great interest in the training programmes offered by the Oxford International College of Beauty.

Spray Tanning Day

Great fun was had by all during their Spray Tanning day by Fake Bake.

Professional Beauty Exhibition – Birmingham

All OICB students attended the beauty exhibition in Birmingham in April giving them the opportunity to meet suppliers and make contacts in the industry. Lots of shopping was involved too!!?

Bath Spa

Students attended the annual visit to the Thermae Spa in Bath. Everyone enjoyed the use of the facilities, a splash in the rooftop open air heated pool and an informative careers talk about life as a therapist at the Spa. What a great way to spend the day!

CIBTAC Exams May 2010

Many students are relieved to have taken their CIBTAC Aesthetics, Body Therapy and Epilation exams and we would like to thank examiner Tracey Haines from CIBTAC.

Career Opportunities!

In big demand - many students have secured employment and are looking forward to beginning their new careers in beauty therapy at some of the UKs top spas and salons.

From the CIBTAC 2 Year course Karolina is off to Esporta in Oxford, Kerry has joined Heythrop Park Spa, Imogen is joining Bicester Golf Club & Spa, Charlotte is off to work in the Myota Spa in Malta, Charlotte K is at Witney Lakes Spa, Ella has started work at Simply Beautiful Hair & Beauty in Oxford and Hannah is working for Bliss Remedies. The rest of the group are still busy going for interviews.
